Terms of service
The rules for using these tools. Short, because the service is free and asks nothing of you.
TO SUPPLY: the contracting entity, the governing law and venue, and the effective date. Also confirm whether you want an arbitration or class-action waiver clause — that is a deliberate commercial choice, not a default, and it is unenforceable in several jurisdictions.
The service
GrammarPlus provides free, browser-based writing tools. No account is required, nothing is sold, and the service is provided as-is. We may change, limit or discontinue any tool at any time.
Your text stays yours
You keep all rights to the text you submit and to the output you get back. We claim no ownership of either, and we do not use your submissions to train anything of ours. What the AI provider does with a request in transit is covered on the privacy page.
You are responsible for having the right to submit what you submit — in particular for confidential material belonging to an employer or client.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use these tools to:
- generate or refine content that is unlawful in your jurisdiction;
- impersonate a person or organisation, or produce material intended to deceive about its origin;
- circumvent the rate limits, whether by script, proxy rotation or clearing browser storage in a loop;
- resell access, or wrap these endpoints in another product or API.
Rate limits apply per browser and per IP address. They exist to keep the tools free and available, and hitting them occasionally is normal use, not a violation.
Accuracy and academic use
AI output is probabilistic and can be wrong. Nothing here is professional, legal, medical or academic advice, and you should read what a tool returns before relying on it.
Two cases deserve naming. The AI detector reports a probability, not proof of authorship. No detector can establish that a human wrote a text, false positives are common — they fall hardest on non-native writers — and its output must not be used as evidence in an academic-misconduct process. The citation generators format the details you provide and flag what is missing; they do not verify that a source exists. Check every citation against the source.
Whether these tools may be used on graded work is set by your institution, not by us. Check your course policy first.
No warranty, and limits on liability
The service is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We do not warrant that the tools will be available, uninterrupted or error-free.
TO SUPPLY: the liability cap and exclusions you want, reviewed against the consumer-protection law of your jurisdiction — several of them void blanket exclusions against consumers regardless of what the text says.
