About GrammarPlus

GrammarPlus is a set of 25 browser-based writing tools — a grammar checker, a paraphrasing tool, a text summarizer, an AI detector, citation generators for five styles, and counters for words, sentences and paragraphs. Every one of them works without an account, without ads, and without a paywall in front of the result.

The site is available in 25 languages. The tools themselves work on text in any language the underlying model handles, which is considerably more than 25.

They fall into two groups, and the difference matters for your privacy.

• Browser-only tools. The word counter, sentence counter, paragraph counter and reading time calculator run entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your text is never sent anywhere.
• AI tools. Everything else sends your text to a large language model to be processed, and streams the result back. What that means for your data is set out on the privacy page.

GrammarPlus exists alongside Grammar+ AI Writing Checker, a mobile app by the same developer with 50,000+ downloads and a 4.4-star rating on Google Play from 2,230 ratings. The website is how people find the app, which is why the tools do not need to be metered or gated to pay for themselves.

There are limits, but they are there to stop automated abuse rather than to sell you an upgrade: requests are rate-limited per browser and per IP address, and each tool caps the length of a single submission. Nothing on this site asks for a card.

The AI tools are useful and often very good, but they are not infallible, and two of them deserve a warning. The AI detector returns a probability, not a verdict — no detector can prove that a human wrote a text, and none should be used to accuse anyone of anything. The citation generators format the details you give them and flag what is missing; they do not look sources up, and they will not invent an author or a date to fill a gap. Check any citation against the source before submitting it.
